JAKARTA - A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck early on Monday off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The quake hit at 00.38am (1738 GMT Sunday) 143 kilometres southwest of Padang, capital of West Sumatra province, at a relatively shallow depth of 21 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
No tsunami warning was issued.
